TMS Therapy at Denver Ketamine Clinic
TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) is an FDA-cleared, non-medication treatment for adults with major depressive disorder who have not responded adequately to antidepressants. We offer standard TMS and the FDA-cleared theta-burst (iTBS) protocol, including accelerated schedules for eligible patients, so a patient who is not a candidate for ketamine-based treatment has a covered option in the same clinic.
How it works
A magnetic coil rests against the scalp and delivers pulses to a region of the brain involved in mood regulation. No anesthesia, no medication, and most people drive themselves to sessions. Standard sessions run roughly 20 to 40 minutes; iTBS sessions take a few minutes.
Course of treatment
Evaluation with a psychiatrist, insurance authorization submitted by our team, motor-threshold mapping on day one, then daily weekday sessions over several weeks — or, for eligible patients, an accelerated iTBS schedule that compresses the timeline. Symptom scores are tracked throughout.
Side effects
Scalp discomfort and headache are the most common and tend to fade in the first week. Serious side effects are rare; the seizure risk is very low and is covered in informed consent.
Coverage
Most major commercial plans and TRICARE cover TMS for major depressive disorder when their criteria are met.
